Our annual Oyster Roast—jointly sponsored by Friends of Fort Fremont and the SC Native Plant Society was once again a gigantic success. Held at Live Oak Park in Port Royal, on March 15, 2024, it featured music by the "Sweet Ferns." Oysters & chili by Sea Eagle Catering. Desserts & Appetizers by The Friends.

Baseball Tickets!:
Five Savannah Bananas General Admission Tickets for Friday April 5 at 7:00 at historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah, GA to watch the Savannah Bananas take on the Party Animals. All games have been sold out each season since 2016 when the Bananas were named the official Savannah Minor League mascot, so these tickets are PRICELESS!  Each ticket includes ALL YOU CAN EAT Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken Sandwiches, Chips, Popcorn, Dessert, Water and Coca-Cola products. Other food items and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. The Savannah Bananas have been featured on ESPN, Sports Illustrated, SportsCenter, People Magazine, ABC, NBC and CBS News.

It was a perfect day in Port Royal for our annual oyster roast. We continue a winning program of music, food, and fundraising, with fabulous volunteers and happy guests.

Auction Items included: Fishing gear from Beaufort Boat & Dock. A Celedon Club and Wellness Center 6 month membership. And a Zia Couture of Savannah lariat necklace with onyx, druzy, and pearls.

We all enjoyed the oysters, chili, desserts, and music by The Sweet Ferns like "Fools for Fort Fremont".

Auction Items included: Fishing expedition with Captain Danny Roark. A stay at Hill Cabin on Roan Mountain, NC. A lovely gift basket for a Stay-at-Home evening, and a Handmade Bead and Vine necklace with apatite and pearls.

Oyster Roast 2020

The Sweet Ferns once again provided hand clapping music. Great oysters and chili by Sea Eagle Catering; it was a great afternoon of feasting and fun.

Auction Items included: Toadfish Outfitters' ergonomic designed "Put ‘em Back Edition Oyster Knives and Crab Claw Cutters." A round of golf at Pleasant Point. A Jonathan Green Lowcountry Collection. And a Magic of Flight over Beaufort on a thirty minute ride for two in a Super P-92 or a Piper Cherokee 140.

We hope you didn't miss this one. Great music by the Sweet Ferns; perfect Oysters and Chili by Sea Eagle Catering; yummy Appetizers & Desserts by members of Friends of Fort Fremont; and our getting-better-all-the-time Silent Auction.

Auction Items included the Oyster Shell Painting by Kathryn Sommerville Mixon (above), a Myrtlewood Carved Bowl by M. Murphy, a Designer Low Country Necklace, and a New Orleans Rum Bucket with King Creole Anniversary Rum

Another fabulous oyster roast provided by Sea Eagle Catering at the Oaks Park in Port Royal with chili, appetizers and dessert brought by FFF members. Live music by the Sweet Ferns. The Silent Auction items were well received and brought the total raised for the evening up to $2,400.

We had it all; oysters, chili, appetizers and dessert; live music by the Sweet Ferns; a Silent Auction; and Sea Eagle Catering at The Oaks Park in Port Royal!

Silent Auction Items included a Bourbon Basket with 4 Etched Glasses, an elegant Painted Hydrangea Tile, a Handmade Pottery Tray, Concrete Cottage Planter, a Tiffany Style Lampand a BEAUFORT RIVER CRUISE FOR 4 (photo above).


OYSTER ROAST 2016

The event was a smashing success Friday March 18th at Live Oak Park in Port Royal. Sea Eagle Oysters & Chili, appetizers and dessert provided by the Friends. Live Music by The Sweet Ferns and a sell-out crowd came together to make the evening great. And our Silent Auction was a great fund-raiser and lots of fun. 2016 oyster roast at live oak park
Friends President Cecile Dorr presented flowers to the wives (women behind the scenes!) of Dennis Cannady who has created another masterpiece in a model of the USS Olympia in the drydock once operating at Port Royal Naval Station, Parris Island; and of Pete Richards to whom the model is dedicated for his championship of the Olympia.
